The Netherlands’ Femke Bol secured victory in the third heat of the women’s 400-meter hurdles, earning her a spot in the semifinal round. Following closely behind were Jamaica’s Shiann Salmon and South Africa’s Zeney Geldenhuys.
Bol's recent success comes on the heels of her gold medal win on Saturday night, where she led her country’s 4x400-meter mixed relay team to a thrilling come-from-behind victory, overtaking Team USA in the final moments of the race.
Notably, Bol had previously clinched a bronze medal in the same event at the Tokyo Olympics. The current gold medalist, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, is set to compete in heat five of the competition.
