The deadline to for apply for individual assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency has passed. FEMA officials say that does not mean they are finished in flood-stricken areas of eastern Kentucky.
Brianna Fenton is a spokesperson with FEMA. She said they will still be on the ground to help flood survivors.
“FEMA currently still has five disaster recovery centers open and it has two additional multi-agency resource centers.”
Fenton said representatives will be stationed at the disaster recovery centers throughout the area.
“They can just receive help and assistance with understanding the application process, understanding maybe the letter they received from FEMA after they applied, they could also get help with what the next step that they should do so that we can just keep moving the recovery forward.”
Fenton says FEMA has five disaster recovery centers still set up in eastern Kentucky. Those are in Breathitt, Clay, Knott, Letcher, and Perry Counties. There also two multi-agency facilities. Those are in Floyd and Clay Counties.
