'Feet on the ground' - Callum Wilson's verdict on Newcastle United's rise under Eddie Howe

Callum Wilson has insisted Eddie Howe will not allow Newcastle United to get swept away by their fantastic start to the Premier League season.

With 12 games gone, Newcastle sit in fourth place in the table and occupy a Champions League slot. A victory against Aston Villa, coupled with Spurs dropping points at Bournemouth this weekend, could even propel Newcastle into third place.

But number 9 Wilson said: "It's down to how the manager set us up and the direction this season. We've kept our feet on the ground and now it's falling into place and we're getting results. We're on a good run and long may it continue. At the end of the season, we'll evaluate where we are in the league."

United face a Villa side managed by caretaker boss Aaron Danks as Unai Emery waits for his work permit to come through. The second city side hammered Brentford 4-0 at the weekend.

Ex-Anderlecht coach Danks felt that the win was no real surprise - despite the recent exit of Steven Gerrard.

Danks said: "We felt for a few weeks this was coming. We had put some good performances in but the goals were just missing. We were clinical and ruthless and today is the result you get from that."
