From #sleepdivorce — the concept of sleeping in separate bedrooms to achieve optimum shut-eye (see the late Her Majesty the Queen and Prince Philip, and more recently Cameron Diaz and Joe Madden) — to #bedrotting, a viral TikTok trend that involves spending the entire day in bed doing absolutely nothing (otherwise known as lazy) — the humble bed has become a battleground.
Now, queer Stockholm-based architect-turned-designer Gustaf Westman has collaborated with Feeld, the dating app launched by Ana Kirova and Dimo Trifonov in 2014 for “open-minded individuals”, on an unconventional new bed design.
Featuring Teletubby-bright colours, the bed is big enough for at least three people at once, in line with Feeld’s popularity amongst the ethically non monogamous.
Titled ‘Come to Bed’, the collaboration disrupts bedroom norms with a bold and colourful design that challenges us to reimagine what a bed can be.

It is built around a looped metal frame creating a curved bed base and semi circling canopy, subverting the traditional right angles of a four-poster bed.
At one end a television and speakers are built into a red mount, while lamps and mirrors are suspended above the bed, also fixed into chunky, colourful mounts.
Known for furniture, glassware and ceramics with a playful edge, Westman’s concept challenges our preconceptions about what happens between the sheets.
“The bed design was really grounded in the idea of unlimited possibilities. A bed is about so much more than just sleep,” said Westman.
“This experience is so different from a typical bed that people will question whether it’s even a bed at all.
“We designed features that embrace everything that happens in bed — like a built-in TV, two adjustable mirrors and free space on the bedframe that allows for endless possibilities, letting you add gadgets and accessories to suit whatever you want to use the bed for…”
There are various Westman-designed accessories that go with the bed, including the One Night Stand bedside table, a wine glass holder and a ‘juice squeezer’ in the shape of a butt plug.
The bed is currently available for Feeld to view in LA . You can sign-up via the Feeld website.
A naughty but nice design that will certainly give you something to sleep on.
