Federico Valverde aims bizarre dig at Liverpool's Andy Robertson after Champions League final

Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde took aim at Andy Robertson in their post-match celebrations with a cheeky joke aimed at the left back.

The La Liga giants secured their 14th European Cup on Saturday with a 1-0 win over Liverpool in the Champions League final at the Stade de France. Just a single goal separated the two sides as Vinicius Jr fired his side in front with 30 minutes left to play.

Jurgen Klopp's side were unable to respond after going behind and it was the second time in five years the Reds were defeated by Real Madrid in a European final. It was Valverde that assisted the goal as his cross was turned in by Vinicius at the back post.

Amid the post-match celebrations, Valverde was captured in an interview with his son on his shoulders aiming a dig at Robertson.

“It’s more difficult to watch my son than to mark Robertson,” he told the reporter.

On the assist, he added: "I got close to the box, I shot the ball, it ended up being a tremendous pass and Vinicius made it look even better."

Liverpool had nine shots on target across the 90 minutes, compared to Real Madrid's two. But the Spanish club made it count when it mattered and Robertson admitted the Reds could have played better in the second half.

The Scotland international told LFC TV at full-time : "We had chances, we came up against an unbelievable goalie tonight, he pulled off some unbelievable saves. But if we're being honest as well, I think we could have played a bit better, especially second half.

"They started getting a hold of the game a bit more. When you come up against an experienced team, they know how to win finals. Once they got their noses in front, they showed that."
