Today at 11 a.m. ET, a federal judge in Washington, DC, is set to hear arguments regarding the administration's plans to dismantle the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

US District Judge Carl Nichols, who was appointed by Trump, will be considering a request for a preliminary injunction from unions representing USAID workers. This injunction aims to prevent the administration from closing the aid agency while their lawsuit to preserve it is ongoing.

Last Friday, Judge Nichols issued an order for the administration to pause its efforts to place over 2,200 USAID employees on administrative leave. Additionally, the agency was required to temporarily reinstate hundreds of other workers who had already been suspended. This decision was seen as a temporary victory for the unions involved in the case.

The hearing today will be crucial in determining whether the dismantling of USAID will be halted indefinitely or allowed to proceed. The outcome could have significant implications for the future of the agency and its employees.
