Federal Judge Blocks Data Sharing Amid Privacy Concerns

A federal judge has issued a temporary order blocking the Department of Education and the US Office of Personnel Management from sharing certain sensitive government data with representatives of the Department of Government Efficiency. The order, issued by US District Judge Deborah Boardman, a Biden appointee in Maryland, specifically prohibits the sharing of personal information belonging to approximately 2 million individuals who are members of the unions that filed a lawsuit over the Department of Government Efficiency's access to the data.

The injunction is in effect until March 10.

The injunction will remain in effect until the morning of March 10. This development follows previous restrictions imposed by judges on the Department of Government Efficiency's access to Department of Treasury data systems.
