Federal election campaign: Week one on the road with Prime Minister Scott Morrison and Labor leader Anthony Albanese, in pictures

They say a week is a long time in politics, and that a picture tells a thousand words.

But fear not, this is a brief collection of pictures aims to help you catch up on week one of the 2022 Federal Election campaign.

It all kicked off last Sunday

Prime Minister Scott Morrison locked in the date of the campaign last Sunday, setting up a six-week campaign.

The first day was tough for Anthony Albanese

Labor leader Anthony Albanese stumbled and was unable to recall key economic figures while trying to spruik Labor's credentials for government.

The next day he visited a factory in Parramatta.

It was later revealed the facility Mr Morrison visited to spruik job creation is set to cut jobs and move some work to Vietnam.

He told a reporter to "Google it, mate" when asked if he knew an economic stat, before accusing Mr Morrison of trying to weaponise transgender debate for the election campaign.

There was a scary moment in Tasmania

Mr Morrison cancelled a campaign event after a car carrying his security detail rolled off the road in northern Tasmania on Thursday.

The officers escaped with minor injuries.
