'Fearless' Leeds United duo tipped for big impact at World Cup with United States

Leeds United duo Brenden Aaronson and Tyler Adams are being tipped to have a big impact at the World Cup with the United States of America. The latter of the Whites' duo was named captain for the tournament and has been the standout player for Jesse Marsch's side so far this season.

Adams has spoken at length throughout the campaign about the honour of representing his country at the World Cup and started the first game of the group against Wales.

Eniola Aluko believes Adams will be the standout performer for USMNT at the tournament. She told ITV: "I think they're going to be really energetic. They play on the press, they'll be fearless on the press.

"I think technically, Adams is the player in midfield - for Leeds he's done well - he'll try and keep the ball. I think this is an interesting team going forward.

"Aaronson was on the bench [against Wales] I really expected him to start, so the depth now of this USA team now is interesting, the likes of Aaronson can come on, Ferreira has scored a lot of goals for the MLS this season. There's a good depth to this young team for the US.

"After not qualifying in 2018, there was a massive reset in the US. Berhalter has gone with young players, potential - I'm not sure about the best players in the world like what the President said but - really, really hungry young players. There's only one player in the team who's not playing in Europe, so the fear factor I think will go.

"The US I think, used to feel a little bit inferior in world football. Now, these lads will be fearless, they don't know what they don't know. They've never been to a World Cup, they're going to go for it and be hungry and energetic."

The USA and Wales shared a 1-1 draw in Monday night's Group B opener.
