The FBI announced at a press conference that the suspect in the deadly truck attack on Bourbon Street in New Orleans is likely a lone wolf terrorist with no known accomplices. Deputy Assistant Christopher Raia from the bureau’s Counterterrorism Division stated that they do not believe anyone else is involved in the attack besides the suspect, Shamsud-Din Jabbar. This announcement marks a shift from a previous statement made less than 24 hours earlier, where it was suggested that Jabbar may not have acted alone.
Initially, investigators were exploring the possibility of other individuals being involved in the attack, particularly in relation to the placement of improvised explosive devices separate from the truck used by Jabbar to target the crowd on New Year’s Day. However, the latest information from the FBI indicates that they now consider Jabbar to be the sole perpetrator of the tragic incident.
The FBI's Counterterrorism Division continues to work diligently to gather more information and investigate all leads related to the attack. While the focus is currently on Jabbar as the primary suspect, the bureau remains vigilant in its efforts to ensure that all aspects of the case are thoroughly examined.
