The FBI conducted a raid earlier this week at the Long Island home of a former aide to New York Gov. Kathy Hochul. The federal agents searched the five-bedroom, $3.5 million residence of Linda Sun in a gated community on the North Shore of Long Island. The FBI spokesperson confirmed that the search was court-authorized law enforcement in Manhasset, but did not provide specific details on the reason for targeting the home.
Linda Sun, aged 40, and her husband, Chris Hu, aged 41, have not been accused of any wrongdoing, and no arrests were made during the raid. However, legal experts noted that obtaining a search warrant requires some indication of potential wrongdoing, as approved by a judge. The search warrant for the raid was obtained by the US Attorney’s Office in Brooklyn, although the office declined to comment on the matter.
Property records revealed that the home owned by Sun and her husband was transferred into a trust in March. Sun, who previously served as one of Gov. Hochul's deputy chiefs of staff and also worked under former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, focused on business development, Asian American affairs, and diversity, equity, and inclusion in her roles. She left her executive chamber position after 15 months and joined the New York State Department of Labor in 2022.
Reports indicated that Sun departed from public service last year following allegations of misconduct, which were reportedly referred to law enforcement for investigation. Sun's husband operates a liquor store in Queens, where a bottle of wine priced at $700 was observed near the entrance. Attempts to contact the couple for comments were unsuccessful.
