In a recent news conference, the special agent in charge of the FBI Pittsburgh office revealed that the agency is actively working on identifying the gunman involved in a recent shooting incident. The suspect did not have any form of identification on him, prompting authorities to utilize biometric confirmations to establish his identity.
Special Agent Kevin Rojek mentioned that the FBI is currently examining photographs and running DNA tests to obtain biometric confirmation of the suspect's identity. When questioned about the specifics of the weapon used and the number of shots fired, Rojek stated that such details were not yet available.
Lt. Col. George Bivens of the Pennsylvania State Police added that while officials had a good idea of the type of weapon used in the shooting, it was still part of the ongoing investigation.
Authorities are also looking into the circumstances surrounding the shooting, including reports from eyewitnesses who claimed to have seen the gunman climbing onto a roof. One witness reported seeing the suspect on the roof with a rifle and attempted to alert the police prior to the incident.
Bivens acknowledged the witness testimony and mentioned that law enforcement had received multiple reports of suspicious activities leading up to the shooting.
