The FBI Deputy Director, Paul Abbate, announced on Tuesday that the bureau is investigating an account on the social media platform Gab that may have expressed support for Joe Biden. Abbate informed senators that they are examining at least two accounts that could be linked to the shooter. One of the accounts displayed content reflecting antisemitic and anti-immigration sentiments, advocating for political violence, and was described as extreme in nature.
However, Abbate mentioned that a separate account on Gab showcased differing viewpoints. This revelation comes after Gab CEO Andrew Tobra disclosed that the suspected assailant potentially had an account on their platform. Gab is known as an alternative social media network that attracts conservatives, the alt-right, and some extremists. Tobra stated that the specific account in question was reportedly in favor of Biden.
