A recent discovery at the Houston home of suspect Shamsud-Din Jabbar has raised concerns about potential terrorist activities. Law enforcement sources revealed the recovery of precursor chemicals that could be used to create homemade explosives. Additionally, attack plans recovered by the FBI indicated a plot to place crude bombs in New Orleans, with the intention of causing significant harm.
The FBI successfully neutralized two improvised explosive devices found in coolers placed several blocks apart in New Orleans. Fortunately, other devices were deemed nonfunctional, averting further danger. The focus of the ongoing investigation now shifts towards understanding how Jabbar, a former U.S. Army veteran with a lucrative job, became radicalized.
FBI Deputy Assistant Director Christopher Raia emphasized that, as of now, there is no evidence suggesting the involvement of anyone other than Shamsud-Din Bahar Jabbar in the attack. The FBI has mobilized additional personnel and resources from various regions to support the investigation.
Raia unequivocally labeled the incident in New Orleans as an act of terrorism, describing it as premeditated and evil. The authorities are committed to unraveling the motives behind the planned attack and ensuring the safety of the public.
