The Secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas, has provided updates on the ongoing investigations into the recent attacks in New Orleans and Las Vegas. According to Mayorkas, the FBI is actively investigating the New Orleans attack, which has been determined to be inspired by a foreign terrorist ideology. The suspect, identified as Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a US citizen and army veteran, is believed to have ascribed to the beliefs of ISIS.

Mayorkas mentioned that the FBI is particularly focused on understanding how Jabbar became radicalized, highlighting it as a key element of the investigation. While a motive has been identified for the New Orleans attack, the investigation into the Las Vegas incident involving a Tesla Cybertruck explosion outside the Trump International Hotel is still in its preliminary stages.

Regarding the Las Vegas incident, Mayorkas stated that a motive has not yet been identified. He clarified that there is currently no evidence of other individuals collaborating with the person in the Cybertruck, but the possibility of additional conspirators has not been ruled out. Investigators are working diligently to gather more information to determine any potential affiliations between the New Orleans and Las Vegas incidents.

The Secretary emphasized that the investigations are ongoing, and authorities are committed to uncovering all relevant details to ensure the safety and security of the public. As the FBI continues its work, more updates are expected to shed light on the circumstances surrounding these tragic events.
