Rep. Mike Waltz, a member of the Bipartisan Assassination Task Force, highlighted the FBI's reluctance to share information compared to the U.S. Secret Service (USSS), which has taken responsibility for its failures during the July rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Crooks fired shots from an unchecked rooftop during the event.
While acknowledging the USSS's cooperation in admitting communication and command post failures, Waltz criticized the FBI for not being forthcoming even two months after the assassination attempt. He called for FBI Director Christopher Wray and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to hold a press conference similar to the one conducted by the USSS.
