A group of suspected bank robbers, referred to as the 'little rascals' by the FBI, are now in custody, with one of them being only 11 years old.
The FBI's Houston field office announced on Tuesday that the suspects, aged 11, 12, and 16, have been charged locally with robbery by threat. The bureau had previously released surveillance images of the suspects, who were accused of robbing a Wells Fargo in Houston on March 14. Witnesses initially believed the suspects were between 14 to 18 years old.
Two of the suspects were apprehended after their parents recognized them in the surveillance photos and promptly contacted law enforcement, as reported by the Harris County Sheriff's Office. The circumstances of the arrests have not been confirmed by the sheriff's office, citing that the suspects are all minors.
According to Texas law, a juvenile is defined as a person who is at least 10 years old but not yet 17 at the time of their crime or conduct in question. If found guilty, a minor could face probation or juvenile detention. The FBI has not disclosed the exact amount of money taken during the robbery.
