Favourite takeaway launches controversial 'Marmite experience' burger

An Ayrshire takeaway has got 2023 off to a bang with a rather controversial burger.

Weird and wonderful combinations can lead to some of the best taste sensations ever put on a plate.

However, the new creation at Hogan's Sandwich and Burger Bar has left foodies divided.

The Kilmarnock venue has crafted a burger that appears to be pretty standard at first glance.

A nice patty sits atop a bed of shredded lettuce and rashers of bacon. Melted cheese crowns the top of the burger and controversially, a slathering of famous Biscoff sauce.

Responding to a customer who said they weren't sure about it, Hogan's said the new item had been road tested but was definitely a "Marmite experience" with foodies either loving it or hating it.

Another customer said: "Some sick minds about" while one person responded: "I’m all for Biscoff on most things but defo not this."

Hogan's launched the new item on Thursday night and gave customers 50 per cent off all burgers.

No stranger to an odd burger, the eaterie also sells a chicken burger dipped in curry sauce, topped with bacon and Monterey Jack cheese.

The promotion proved so popular bosses had to close the St Marnock Street venue early after running out of burgers.
