Former Father Ted star Joe Rooney has said he felt “deflated” while working for RTE as he would often overhear staff talk about their luxurious holidays abroad.
The comedian - who played Father Damo in the hit Channel 4 comedy - worked on kids show Jump Around in 1995.
Rooney opened up about his experience working with the broadcaster at the time, revealing how much he earned hosting the kids show.

He told fans on social media: “I worked as a kids TV presenter in RTE back in ’95. I was on £200 a week which meant I had to keep doing stand up gigs to top up my wages.
“Listening to crew in the control room talk about their boating holidays and never talking about television was deflating at the time.”
His comments come in the wake of several RTE stars last week revealing their pay packets amid uproar that Ryan Tubridy was paid €345,000 in non-disclosed payments in the last five years.
