A father overhauled his 'dad bod' by ditching four stone he piled on when his son was born, by exercising with his newborn baby. Sion Monty, 30, piled on four stone in just six months after Tedi was born, while he got to grips with being a dad at the same time as running three businesses.
Weighing nearly 16st, he vowed to lose the weight and involved his son in his exercise regime by doing daily runs, hill sprints and long walks with Tedi in his pram. He was mortified by his weight gain due to his line of work in the fitness arena - he owns a gym, a fitness supplement business and gymwear clothing line.
Thanks to a diet overhaul and exercising six days a week, he lost nearly four stone, buffed up and got superfit for his little lad and proud partner Kara Williams, 27. Now body-confident Sion, who used to refuse to take off his jumper in the gym, is competing in competitions and inspiring other 'dad bods' on social media.
Sion, from Porthmadog, Wales, said: "I didn't want to be a fat dad. I looked in the mirror and realised that if I wanted to live a long life and see my son live his life I needed to change.
"I was so body conscious and maybe a bit embarrassed because I was known as a fit guy. I knew I had to involve Tedi in getting fit if I was going to fit it in, while spending time with him.
"You should have seen how much he laughed at his dad jogging up the hills. He loves birds, so I would choose walks and runs where there were lots of birds for us to spot together.
"My exercise had dropped off because I just didn't have time. But the key was involving my family in it.
"I've never been happier than I am now. I love being a dad, and I'm happy with my body."
Sion first piled on the pounds during his first year at university, going from 12st 7lb to 15st 7lb in 2011. He said the wake up call was being called fat by friends at home and he lost all the weight in one summer.
Svelte Sion started his own fitness business The Student Diet, and then a supplement line and gym Muscle Morph, and clothing line WTF Gymwear. His partner Kara, an administrator, had their son in July 2017.
Sion found that being a dad zapped his energy so he turned to eating takeaways up to five times a week. "Before my son arrived it was my girlfriend, work and the gym, that was it," he said.
"I ate quite well and enjoyed the odd takeaway at the weekend. I totally underestimated how much having a child actually takes over your life.
"My family came first, then my businesses and soon going to the gym and fitness went out the back door. My baby suffered with reflux, he never slept, we were always tired, we didn't have any time for cooking, and it was really hard work."
In six months he gained nearly four stones and ballooned to almost 16st, before deciding to take action on Boxing Day last year. He overhauled his diet, giving himself an 'eating window' of midday to 6pm and fasting for 18 hours a day, to encourage his body to burn fat.
Sion consumed around 2,000 calories and exercised six times a week, but to fit it in around his busy dad schedule, he involved Tedi. He would go for long walks, incorporating hill sprints with the tot in the pram, and go for jogs pushing his buggy.
Tedi was moving on to solid food, so dad and son would eat and try the same healthy foods. Eight months on Sion has never been in better shape.
He weighs 12st 10lb and is lean and muscly. He is due to compete in a 'beach body' male physique competition next month and wants to write a book about his transformation.
Confident Sion said: "I feel like a different person. I'm so happy.
"I was so, so happy to be a dad, but now I'm happy with my body too and it's brilliant."
