Father's Day 2024: How to spoil your dad – and make sure you don't miss the Euros

Worrying about how you can keep an eye on the opening weekend of Euro 2024 without upsetting your family?

Concerned you will have to sneakily check scores while celebrating Father’s Day and worrying about finding the perfect present next Sunday?

Well you can fear no more, as one thoughtful restaurant chain has come up with a way you can do both – plus there is free beer on offer, too.

England are kicking off their Euro 2024 debut on the Sunday of Father’s Day – taking on Serbia at 8pm in the Arena AufSchalke, Gelsenkirchen.

But restaurant chain Côte Brasserie is hosting an early Father’s Day this Sunday (June 9), before the big day on Sunday (June 16), to ensure any football-loving fans do not miss out.

Dads can go along to the ‘Jour de Papa’ event – taking place over both weekends – to enjoy a meal out.

Brasserie bosses made the call after carrying out research that showed nearly half (47 per cent) of dads surveyed were planning to watch England’s first game in the tournament at home with family, but 48 per cent of those asked also said their favourite way to celebrate was to have a meal out with family.

Not wanting dads to feel torn on June 16, the restaurant is hosting two events and even offering dads free beer when ordering from the Father’s Day special menu.

The special menu is “designed as a sharing dish to be enjoyed together the French way, available for £25 per person” and is Cote’s own take on a traditional Sunday roast.

A spokesman said: “The menu features a trio of delicious meat dishes; confit pork belly, sirloin steak, and poulet Breton roti (corn-fed marinated roasted half chicken), all perfectly paired with its own sauce.

“All meats are served with your choice of dauphinoise potatoes or crispy frites, and an extra side per person. Diners can choose from French beans amandine, creamed spinach au gratin, and tomato, basil & shallot salad.

“The vegetarians in the family can also enjoy a vegetarian sharing board, featuring Côte’s famous mushroom bourguignon, quiche aux champignons, and creamy baked camembert.”
