Father's CPR Saves Daughter From Drowning In Family Pool

Father's CPR knowledge saves daughter from drowning.

Over Memorial Day weekend, a North Carolina father's quick actions and knowledge of CPR saved his 2-year-old daughter's life after she almost drowned in the family's pool. The incident occurred during a Memorial Day cookout when the young girl, named Mila, fell into the pool without a flotation device.

Home surveillance footage captured the critical moment when family and friends rushed to provide assistance as Mila began drowning. Mila's father, Matthew, recounted how he immediately jumped in and rescued her upon hearing his older daughter's screams.

Mila's mother, Amy, described feeling helpless as she saw her daughter motionless by the poolside, fearing the worst. Matthew sprang into action upon realizing Mila was not breathing, performing CPR to help her breathe again.

After being rushed to CaroMont Health, Mila made a full recovery. The Gastonia County Sheriff's Office highlighted the importance of supervision around water, noting that 9 out of 10 children who drowned were under supervision.

Following the incident, Mila's family emphasized the need for constant adult supervision when children are near water. They stressed the importance of being prepared and up-to-date on CPR skills, urging everyone to learn how to administer life-saving techniques like mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

This heartwarming story serves as a reminder of the critical role quick thinking and CPR knowledge can play in saving lives, especially in emergency situations like near-drowning incidents. The family's experience underscores the importance of water safety and the need for vigilance when children are around pools or bodies of water.
