Father and son acting stars Brendan and Domhnall Gleeson lead list of Irish stars to fly flag at Golden Globes

Father and son acting stars Brendan and Domhnall Gleeson are among the Golden Globe nominees flying the flag for Ireland this year.

Irish actors Kerry Condon, Colin Farrell, and Barry Keoghan, as well as The Banshees of Inisherin writer-director Martin McDonagh have also been given the golden nod in the nominations for the 2023 awards, which were announced this afternoon.

Condon, Farrell, Keoghan and Brendan Gleeson are all nominated for their performances in London-Irish film maker McDonagh's hit Irish flick.

The Banshees of Inisherin sweeped up all over, receiving eight nominations in total, with the award winning writer and director shortlisted for Best Director and Best Screenplay in the US awards.

Domhnall Gleeson is nominated for best actor in a supporting role in the TV series category for his performance in psychological thriller, The Patient.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony in Beverly Hills on Tuesday, 10 January.

The backlash prompted the HFPA to admit a raft of new members, overhaul its bylaws, and implement changes addressing ethics and inclusion.
