A body was found in a property in Ayrshire following an early morning fire.
Emergency services raced to the scene on Macphail Drive, Kilmarnock at around 2.40am on Tuesday, February 22.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) worked to extinguish the fire but the person was found within the property.
The road has been closed in both directions as enquiries into the blaze remain ongoing.
The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
Councillor Jon Herd tweeted: "Following a serious incident this morning Police Scotland and SFRS have closed Macphail Drive in both directions.
"I cannot give further details but please avoid the area meantime.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of a fire at property on Macphail Drive, Kilmarnock, around 2.40am on Tuesday, 22 February, 2022.
“The fire was extinguished by the fire service but the body of a person was found within.
“Enquiries are ongoing and the fire is not being treated as suspicious.
"A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”
