Tragedy struck in La Oroya, Peru, as a fatal collision between a passenger bus and a cargo train resulted in the loss of four lives and left more than 30 individuals injured. The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday in the district of La Oroya, located approximately 110 miles east of Lima, the capital city.
The Ministry of Transportation and Communications has initiated an investigation into the cause of the crash, which took place after 4 a.m. Both the train and the bus involved in the collision were operating under valid permits and were privately owned.
Following the collision, all the injured individuals were promptly transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. The names of the deceased have not been disclosed by the authorities at this time.
The ill-fated bus had departed from Lima and was en route to the city of Huancayo when the tragic incident occurred. Images released by the police depict the overturned bus on the Central Highway, highlighting the severity of the collision.
