A woman's pet cat has grown SO BIG it is equivalent to the size of an adult male bobcat, weighing in at a whopping 11kg.
The giant feline, called Dexter, is an F6 savannah cat. It means he is six generations removed from a Serval, a wild cat which is native to Africa.
At seven-years-old Dexter weighs 11kg (24.3lbs), and measures a staggering 89cm. His size means he can't just use any old litterbox which can be bought from the pet store - instead Dexter has to use a 110L storage bin to do his business.
In fact, Dexter the cat is so big he can only play with dog toys and eats dog treats. 34-year-old owner, Laura Kay, was in the market for an out-of-the-ordinary cat when she came across Dexter.
She paid a breeder £1,900 in 2016 for the mammoth moggy. Laura, a laser technician from West Lincoln, Ontario, Canada, said: "I buy him dog toys because if I get him tiny little cat toys he'll just destroy them.
"All cat towers are way too small for him. I bought him the biggest one he can find, but it's still way too small for him.
"Cat treats are too small for him as well. If the ingredients are all the same, which they often are, I buy him dog treats."
The most difficult thing to supersize for Dexter was his litterbox. Laura was never able to find a jumbo size litterbox for her boy, and instead she had to buy a huge 110L plastic crate.
"Litter boxers are all just way too small so I bought him a 30 gallon storage bin," Laura explained.
And it's not just the practicalities which are tricky with his size. Dexter has been known to strike fear into bystanders during visits to the vet.
"The last time I've encountered somebody being afraid of him was at the vet," Laura said. "They were a bit worried about how he would react.
"A cat his size could do a lot of damage. He has the strength to do it. He would never do something like that though."
Then there's the cost of living with the colossal kitty. Dexter's size makes him an expensive pet to maintain, with Laura spending around $150 CAD (£90) per month on everything from toys to food and vet bills.
But Dexter is the apple of Laura's eye and she takes great care of her feline friend. She feeds him specially made meat mixes.
"He mostly eats raw ground chicken meat, specifically mixed for pet food," she said.
"If you were to try and make it yourself you would probably get the minerals and nutrients wrong. It's a special mix of parts."
