Hilton Cartwright's unbeaten century has put Western Australia in complete control on day two of their final-round Sheffield Shield match against Victoria in Perth.

The hosts are 7-322 in their first innings at tea, some 218 runs ahead and in the box seat to set up a victory at the WACA.

Cartwright's seventh first-class ton included 14 fours and a six, continuing great form after he made 81 last time out against NSW.

Having resumed after lunch at 4-241, WA pushed further in front via Cartwight and 17-year-old first-class debutant Teague Wyllie, who looked every bit ready for the grade making 42.

That ended when Wylie edged a Will Sutherland delivery to the keeper, triggering a mini-collapse in which WA lost 3-15 and fell to 7-307.

But Cartwright stuck around and brought up his hundred with an edged boundary and remained unbeaten on 103.

Nightwatchman Matthew Kelly earlier enjoyed his stint up the order, whacking 41 off 51 balls.

Sutherland and James Pattison been Victoria's best bowlers, each taking three wickets.

Victoria proved no match for the WA bowlers on day one when they were skittled for 114.
