Fashion Sakala admits he ‘expected better’ from his second season at Rangers.
The Zambian has found himself in and out of the side as Van Bronckhorst struggles to find consistency over the right wing berth. The pacey attacker returned to the action yesterday with a starting slot against Aberdeen which came on the back of strong displays against St Mirren, Liverpool and Napoli. He took his opportunity with an impressive performance against the Dons as the Light Blues ran out 4-1 winners.
Speaking ahead of the match Sakala told Rangers TV how he has had to be patient and stay positive as he waited for his chance from the boss. Sakala said: “The first season was okay and I thought maybe the second season will be much better, but surprisingly things started very different. But I think I just have to be very patient and keep working extra hard to turn things around and maybe this season could be better than the first season I had.”

Sakala opened up on his long wait for a start which never came until the league game against St Mirren at Ibrox earlier this month.
He added: “I was just waiting for my moment. It has been difficult but it’s part of the game when I was going through that moment when I wasn’t playing, I was just training hard and being good to people, just waiting for my chances to come without being frustrated.
“It was good to get some minutes (against St Mirren). The most important thing was the team won, but to get a goal really helped my confidence.”
