A 25-year-old farmer, Dandappa Maladinni, was washed away in a stream in Kolavi village in Belagavi district on Friday.
He was walking along the banks of the stream when he slipped and fell into it, the police said.
The police began a search for the missing man with the help of local fishermen. They suspected that he may have drowned in the stream.
