Unidentified men hacked a farmer to death in Ranakunde village in Belagavi district on Saturday night.
A group of four to six persons entered the house of Babasaheb Patil (32) and hacked him to death.
The victim's brother, Mohan Kumar, was also attacked. Mohan Kumar, who suffered some injuries, was shifted to the hospital.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Ravindra Kadadi and other officials visited the spot.
A case has been registered. Investigation is on. Officers suspected that the accused were known to the victim and had a long-standing enmity with his family.
No one has been arrested yet.
