Far Away Land festival coming to Southport with CBBC stars and Horrible Histories live show

A new family festival is taking place in Southport with stars from CBBC and Horrible Histories live on stage.

Far Away Land is taking place in Victoria Park, Southport on July 2 and 3. The event was originally due to take place in Princes Park, Liverpool but has since been relocated.

Now organisers are encouraging people to show their support and head to the festival where there will be two days of family fun. The line up includes live music from Andy and the Oddsocks - fronted by CBBC star Andy Day, Horrible Histories ‘Barmy Britain’ live on stage, Jurassic Live Dinosaur show and Yolanda’s Band Jam.

There will also be a spectacular circus show, Roald Dahl's 'Imagination Seekers', science demonstrations, live wrestling, a huge graffiti wall, a teddy bears’ picnic, Mad Hatter’s Tea Party and immersive LEGO City.

Andy Scott, who has helped organise Far Away Land, told the ECHO: “Everyone should come along to this, because we’ve all had such a rubbish few years that this summer deserves a big fun family get together - and at £15 a ticket (or £10 if you work in healthcare, emergency services or you claim universal credit), you’d be hard pushed to get such a brilliant line up anywhere else!

“We are an independent organisation that runs the Smithdown Road Community Festival every year, and this is easily the most ambitious and exciting thing we’ve ever put on!”

The organisers have been working closely with Autism In Motion who have created a huge Calm and Sensory Zone at the festival, and will be training all staff at the event to make it autism friendly and accessible to as many children as possible.

Tickets to Far Away Land can be bought via the Far Away Land website. Victoria Park is on Rotten Row, Southport PR8 1RX.
