There wasn’t a lot to like about Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill, running back Derrick Henry and wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins in Week 1.
Tannehill had one of the worst performances of his career, tossing three interceptions and no touchdowns while failing to throw for 200 yards.
Buy Titans TicketsThe veteran quarterback did feed DeAndre Hopkins early and often with 13 targets, but it only amounted to seven catches for 65 scoreless yards.
It looked like Henry was going to have a monster day after he tallied 97 scrimmage yards in the first half, but the Titans uncharacteristically went away from him in the second half, leading to his totaling just 22 more yards, which was made worse by the fact that he didn’t find pay dirt.
So, should any of these players be in your lineup for Week 2? Let’s find out as we take a look at some start or sit advice for Tannehill, Henry and Hopkins.
RB Derrick Henry: Start
Henry remains a lineup lock despite a disappointing start to the season. His 17 touches will be one of the smallest workloads he has all year and I think the Titans learned their lesson last week.
The Chargers were tough against the run (70 yards allowed) in Week 1, but the Miami Dolphins don’t have anyone like Henry on their roster. Adding to that, Miami had so much success through the air, running the ball wasn’t necessary.
Henry tallied 163 scrimmage yards (104 rushing) and a touchdown against the Chargers last season, and that was behind a far worse offensive line.
The Titans’ passing attack will be better in Week 2, which will lead to more scoring opportunities for The King. Look for Henry to break the century mark and find the end zone in Week 2.
WR DeAndre Hopkins: Start
Despite the low yardage output and lack of a touchdown, Hopkins still saw a ridiculous amount of targets (13) from Tannehill, which is certainly encouraging.
While the play of Tannehill is no doubt a concern, I expect better things from the Titans signal-caller in Week 2, which will obviously help Hopkins’ chances of producing more.
Adding to that, this is a favorable matchup against a Chargers defense that gave up the most passing yards in Week 1, and 132 more than the next closest team.
Perhaps the biggest concern for Hopkins is an ankle injury that has him listed on the injury report. He’s a flex option if he plays, but only in PPR formats.
QB Ryan Tannehill: Sit
As I’ve said, I fully expect Tannehill to bounce back, but I just can’t suggest him as a starter after the debacle that was Week 1, even in a favorable matchup against the Chargers.
Tannehill was just off, and it had nothing to do with his offensive line, which was solid overall. The veteran didn’t look comfortable in the pocket, and that has a chance to occur once again with Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack getting after him all day long.
Tannehill is going to find his stride at some point, but don’t put him into your lineup until he actually does.
