Fantasy Premier League managers are ditching Miguel Almiron and flocking to Chelsea in big numbers.
Over 100,000 players have dropped the Newcastle winger (at time of writing) after he was deemed a doubt to face Liverpool due to a hand injury, which he picked up as he bagged a 10-point haul against Bournemouth last week.
The other big FPL theme dominating the build-up to GW24 is the rise of Chelsea ahead of their clash with struggling Southampton. Here are our tips...
Joao Felix - Chelsea - £7.5m
Having looked impressive on his debut before getting sent off, Felix scored and took all three bonus points when living up to that promise against West Ham a week ago. It may have been a tough night in midweek Champions League action, but the Portuguese attacker is very much a threat.
Enzo Fernandez - Chelsea - £5m
The Argentine’s price is deceptive given that he did rack up a fair few goals and assists for Benfica, from a typically low-scoring deep-lying midfield role. An assist against West Ham makes him a potential bargain.
Solly March - Brighton - £5.1m
Brighton midfielders have been favourites of this column and, if you’re dropping Almiron, the stats point to March. The winger has five goals and two assists in his last seven games and is the best Almiron alternative for xGI (expected goal involvements) - which is the stat all the kids are talking about...
Dwight McNeil - Everton - £5.1m
Another Almiron alternative is Everton’s McNeil, who will be on set-piece duty for upcoming home games against Leeds and Nottingham Forest. If Sean Dyche is to work his magic and keep the Toffees up, these matches will be key and McNeil is well placed to make a big impact.
