Fantasy Football: Wide receiver starts and sits for Week 3

Starts and sits is here to help fantasy managers make those all important last minute lineup decisions .While we won’t tell you about obvious starts such as Christian McCaffrey or Justin Jefferson, we will find players you may be waffling about and help you make a decision.

Let’s look at wide receivers for Week 3.

Start: Puka Nacua, Los Angeles Rams

Rookie receiver Puka Nacua has been beyond belief for the Los Angeles Rams and has quickly elevated himself as quarterback Matthew Stafford’s favorite target. If fantasy managers have any question about how they should treat Nacua moving forward, it is as a matchup proof bonified WR1. Start Nacua with confidence every week even once Cooper Kupp returns.

Start: Tyler Lockett, Seattle Seahawks

Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

Seattle receiver Tyler Lockett had himself a big game last week against the Lions, posting up for two touchdowns and over 50 yards receiving on the day. There is little reason to think Lockett won’t find similar success against a struggling Carolina team that is stretched thin at the cornerback position after an injury to star corner Jaycee Horn. Seattle is going to air the ball out this week, and Carolina does not have the man power to contain this wide receiver group. Fire Lockett up as a high end WR2.

Sit: DeAndre Hopkins, Tennessee Titans

DeAndre Hopkins hasn’t quite been the dominant wide receiver one that the Tennessee Titans were hoping to get when they signed him to a big contract just a few months ago, but he is hardly to blame for that given their quarterback and offensive line play. Fantasy owners also have to be disappointed at the production of their investment, as Hopkins has yet to score or cross the 100-yard threshold. It doesn’t get any easier this week as Tennessee draws the top defense in the NFL in the Cleveland Browns who also boast an elite cover man in Denzel Ward. Leave Hopkins on the bench this week, it could be a rough week for Titans fans.

Start: Mike Williams, Los Angeles Chargers

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

I could end this section with “Minnesota Vikings defense” and everyone would understand. Mike Williams is set up to have a majorly productive game in a contest with Minnesota that is bound to be one crazy shootout. Williams is the quintessential deep threat for this Los Angeles offense, and it’s hard to imagine he will be left out of an offensive explosion. Realistically you should start all of your Chargers and Vikings players if you have them, but Williams might be the boom play of the week for your WR2.

Sit: DeVante Parker, New England Patriots

The New England Patriots top receiver had an excellent game last week versus the division rival Miami Dolphins, and fantasy managers may be tempted to throw him into the lineup this week against the Jets. With Sauce Gardner all but guaranteed to be shadowing Parker this week, in a game that will likely be a defensive slug fest, it might be best to find a different option that Parker this week. Parker will make a nice stash for later weeks, as he clearly has a connection with quarterback Mac Jones, but this is not the week to test that theory against one of the best defenses in the league.
