Fantasy football waiver wire: Should you keep or cut these 7 players ahead of Week 3?

You’re waking up on Tuesday reading all that you can about the players that you should be picking up off the waiver wire as you prepare for Week 3 of fantasy football in 2022.

But it’s likely there aren’t as many things written about who you should be dropping to grab those players. That’s what this weekly column — keep ’em or dump ’em! — will hopefully answer for you: Some help in the debate over who you should keep or drop in order to improve your team.

Not the biggest of waiver wire weeks, but still a lot to like to help your team out. Let’s dive in:

1
WR Darnell Mooney, Chicago Bears

The numbers are really, really bad: Five targets in two games for two catches and … four — FOUR — yards.

This is where I preached patience with him. At some point, the Bears HAVE to throw the ball more, right? So I’d say bench him and keep him for now.

VERDICT: Keep him

2
TE Cole Kmet, Chicago Bears

This is a different story. There are some tight ends out there I’d rather have (Isaiah Likely!) and even if the Bears pass more, the volume we hoped for in the preseason might not be enough for him to be good fantasy-wise.

VERDICT: Drop him

3
RB Rex Burkhead, Houston Texans

Welp. After a big Week 1 that included eight targets, he didn’t get a single carry and was targeted just three times. Dameon Pierce will continue to get a lot of the work.

VERDICT: Drop him

4
WR Skyy Moore, Kansas City Chiefs

In case he was still on your team, he had one catch in Week 1 and did nothing in Week 2 while playing two snaps. The Chiefs are spreading the ball around a lot, too.

VERDICT: Drop him

5
WR DeVante Parker, New England Patriots

Brian Fluharty-USA TODAY Sports

Just one catch for nine yards this season. You know what to do.

VERDICT: Drop him

6
QB Matt Ryan, Indianapolis Colts

He’s probably a backup on your team, even in two-QB leagues. And he was horrible against the Jaguars.

That said, Michael Pittman missed that Week 2 game. I’d say let’s wait another week and see what happens when Pittman is back.

VERDICT: Keep him

7
WR Isaiah McKenzie, Buffalo Bills

The potential is there … but the Bills’ passing offense is Stefon Diggs first, Gabe Davis second (when healthy) and Dawson Knox third.

VERDICT: Drop him
