Fantasy Football: Waiver targets for Week 4

It was an exciting and interesting Week 3, where we saw the breakout of multiple surprise players. Injuries and breakout stars are going to send fantasy managers scrambling to waivers this week, and we can full you in on who to target before waivers clear.

1. De'Von Achane, RB, Miami Dolphins

If you watched the absolute scrubbing of the Denver Broncos by the Miami Dolphins this last Sunday, I don’t really need to explain Achane being at the top waiver spot this week. However if you happened to miss that particular game let me fill you in.

The Miami Dolphins scored a whopping 70 points on a once vaunted Denver Broncos defense, and a player responsible for four of those touchdowns (as well as over 200 yards) was former backup running back De’Von Achane. It seems incredibly likely moving forward that Achane will see quite a few more touches in a rotation with starter Raheem Moster, and a few touches is all this explosive rookie really needs. Make adding this rookie speedster the top priority across all waiver wires and plug him in as a flex option right away.

2. Tank Dell, WR, Houston Texans

It’s a rookie bonanza early on in the waiver period as the rookie connection between quarterback CJ Stroud and wide receiver Tank Dell has been off the charts the last two weeks. Dell exploded for 145 yards and a touchdown in week three against the Jaguars, which expands upon his 72 yard, one touchdown performance from the previous week. Dell has cemented himself as a starter on the Houston depth chart and can be trusted right away as a high upside WR3.

3. Marvin Mims, WR, Denver Broncos

Yet another rookie on this list, hooray! Eventually this Denver Broncos team is going to recognize the incredible value Mims is bringing on this offense given every time he touches the football it seems to go for a touchdown. Mims’ usage is shockingly low on a team looking for any spark at all sitting at 0-3, and given Russell Wilson’s propensity to take deep shots once again, this is a breakout season waiting to happen. Mims isn’t a starter on your fantasy roster right away, but still a priority add.

4. Sam LaPorta, TE, Detroit Lions

Yes, another rookie. Sam LaPorta is going to go very quickly on waivers this week given the depth at the tight end position, and he should be near the top of your priority list if you need help at the position. Any tight end seeing eleven targets in a game is a commodity in fantasy, and if you are without the likes of Travis Kelce or George Kittle, you should be swinging for the fences on a talent like LaPorta. This is a plug and play waiver add, and LaPorta should be treated as a top ten option moving forward.

5. Denver Broncos D/ST

Funny prank, right? You are going to look like a buffoon before you look like a genius for adding a defense that just up 70 points and was embarrassed in front of the entire league. However, if you are streaming defenses you could do much worse than this defense against the worst offense in football in the Chicago Bears. Evaluate from there if you want to keep this unit rostered, but they are a safe start against an anemic offense that seemingly cannot do anything at the professional level.
