Fantasy Football: Running back starts and sits for Week 6

Starts and sits is here to help fantasy managers make those all important last minute lineup decisions .While we won’t tell you about obvious starts such as Christian McCaffrey or Justin Jefferson, we will find players you may be waffling about and help you make a decision.

Let’s look at running backs for Week 6.

Start: Raheem Mostert, Miami Dolphins

Raheem Mostert has had a mixed couple of weeks with rookie sensation De’Von Achane cutting into his snap count which essentially tanked his production from the first few weeks. Now with Achane landing on injured reserve and a matchup against an awful Carolina Panthers team Mostert is in an ultimate smash position. Miami should be up big early this week, and once that happens Mostert will see a heap of carries against a bad run defense. Fire Mostert up as a top five running back this week.

Start: Jonathan Taylor, Indianapolis Colts

Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

I know plenty of Jonathan Taylor owners are bound to be skittish this week after he was heavily outplayed and outtouched by Zack Moss last week during Taylor’s long awaited return. There is no reason to panic, Taylor is bound to get his legs under him and return as this teams unquestioned starter, he is too talented not to. Yes, Moss still may cut into his carries, but Taylor should not under any circumstances be on your bench. Fire Taylor up as a RB2 with big upside.

Sit: Miles Sanders, Carolina Panthers

Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

It has been a rough season for Miles Sanders, between playing behind one of the worst lines in the league, and being continuously nailed at the line of scrimmage he may be missing Philadelphia right about now. Beyond his injury designation this week the reality for Sanders is he has Chuba Hubbard eating into his carries as well as the fact Carolina will likely abandon the run early against a high flying Miami Dolphins offense this week. Avoid any of the Carolina runners if you can.

Sit: Dalvin Cook, New York Jets

Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

Dalvin Cook has been pretty well displaced as the lead ball carrier for the New York Jets given how explosive Breece Hall has looked. WIth little motivation for New York to continue feeding their veteran star, an elite defense in front of them, and the potential for a blowout game, Cook needs to be avoided this week. Keep him on your roster as he is still a good player, but drop all expectations this week against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Start: Tyjae Spears, Tennessee Titans

It has been interesting seeing rookie running back Tyjae Spears sprinkled in more and more into this Tennessee Titans offense. Spears has become the clear favorite as a third down back and looks like the most explosive running back on this roster, which may seem like hearsay but the game film does not lie. This week against the Baltimore Ravens, Spears could see his heaviest workload so far this season and is worthy of flex consideration on your roster. Keep Spears rostered or try and trade for him, his value is just going to go up and up as the season drags on.
