Fantasy Football: Potential bargains, must-plays from Giants-Rams game

The red-hot Los Angeles Rams (8-7) travel east to the New Jersey Meadowlands on New Year’s Eve afternoon to face the New York Giants (5-10).

Both teams have picked up the effort in the second half of the season, and this game could be filled with fireworks.

That’s good news for fantasy owners and DFS speculators looking for a late-season payday.

Here are three options to consider.

Rams wide receivers

Robert Hanashiro-USA TODAY Sports

The Giants have allowed the sixth-most FPS (fantasy points) to wide receivers this season and are coming off another subpar showing against the Eagles’ two stud wideouts — A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith.

The Rams have a similar — if not more potent — duo in Cooper Kupp and record-setting rookie Puka Nacua.

Kupp and Nacua should both flourish in this game as the Rams are one win from clinching a playoff spot and will be pulling out all the stops.

Both Kupp and Nacua should be greenlit in all lineups and in all formats. Nacua is fourth and Kupp sixth in PFS among wideouts over the past month.

Don’t sleep on Demarcus Robinson, either. He has averaged 16.0 FPS on DraftKings over the past four weeks — good enough for 10th in the NFL over that span.

Giants TE Darren Waller

Darren Waller has had issues getting separation on first-look patterns but seems to find ways to get open on plays that get extended.

Both quarterbacks — Tommy DeVito and Tyrod Taylor — can extend plays, which is what makes Waller attractive in this game.

Add that to the fact that the Rams have allowed the fourth-most FPS to tight ends this season, and Waller is a solid play here.

Rams RB Kyren Williams

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Kyren Williams is second in the NFL in rushing this season, behind only the great Christian McCaffrey. He is solid No. 1 running back in all formats.

Williams faces a Giants’ rushing defense that allowed 170 yards to the Eagles last week and is ranked 21st in the NFL. He is in a plus matchup here and, if the Rams get an early lead, expect him to be called on to carry them to victory.
