The New York Giants (2-5) host the New York Jets (3-3) on Sunday afternoon at MetLife Stadium at East Rutherford, New Jersey in a matchup featuring two struggling offenses.
There’s fantasy gold in this game somewhere. Here are a few options to consider in Week 8.
The defenses
It’s a no-brainer to play the defense that is going up against the Giants’ troubled offense. The Giants are last in points per game (12.1) and have averaged just 13 over their last three, so there’s little proof they’re getting better.
The Jets’ defense has scored 29 points on DraftKings over the past two weeks and is ramping up turnover and sack-wise.
The Giants have not been bad either, allowing 21 points over the past two games and racking up six sacks and an interception last week against Washington.
Giants TE Darren Waller
Darren Waller got off to a slow start but has been heating up, scoring the third-most FPS among tight ends over the last three games.
As we know, it’s all about opportunity and Waller leads the Giants in targets (49) by a lot. The next player is Darius Slayton with 32.
Over the last three games, Waller has been targeted 26 times. Only Kansas City’s Travis Kelce (33) and T.J. Hockenson (28) have been targeted more.
The Jets have been allowing the second-most FPS to tight ends this season and Waller is well-positioned here.
Giants RB Saquon Barkley
The Jets have been allowing the seventh-most FPS to running backs this season, so this is a nice spot for Saquon Barkley, who is three weeks past his high-ankle sprain.
In year-long leagues, Barkley is a must-play mainly because you likely drafted him pretty high. But in DFS and weekly cash and tournament play, he’s a good bet this week as well.
Since returning, Barkley has 216 yards from scrimmage, seven receptions and a touchdown in two games.
Jets RB Breece Hall
Breece Hall is a budding star who is becoming a favorite of fantasy players. He is a big-play back and is playing up to that label.
Hall has racked up 51.7 FPS over the last two weeks on DraftKings and now faces the Giants’ leaky run defense, which is allowing the ninth-most FPS to running backs this year.
