Fantasy football 2022: New England Patriots preview

Knowledge is power and the greatest asset you can acquire in order to compete for a fantasy football championship.

Here's your 2022 preview of the New England Patriots, the 27th of 32 team profiles during draft season:

— 2022 Fantasy MVP: Rhamondre Stevenson, RB

Honestly, New England is a hard nut to crack for fantasy. Only two players are currently being selected in the top 100 so the risk is mitigated for the most part, but there's not a lot of excitement either because the team will likely utilize a bunch of different players most weeks. So I'm taking Stevenson (ADP: 87) here because he has the most upside. He could see an increased third-down role should Ty Montgomery miss any time with his ankle injury and he's already shown he's capable of handling a significant workload and producing with two games as a rookie with at least 100 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

— 2022 Fantasy Sleeper: Jakobi Meyers, WR

Meyers (ADP: 148) finished as fantasy's WR41 in standard formats (WR29 in PPR) last season and he's currently being drafted as the 50th WR off the board. He has 142 receptions the last two seasons and only two touchdowns, so some positive regression should come if he maintains his healthy target share — 22.7% in 2021 (14th in the NFL).

— 2022 Fantasy Bust: Damien Harris, RB

Harris (ADP: 70) has Bill Belichick's trust so he isn't going to disappear off the stat sheet entirely, but he's also not going to continue scoring a touchdown every 13.5 rush attempts either. Plus, his upside is limited by his lack of involvement in the pass game.

— 2022 Fantasy Rookie to watch: Pierre Strong, RB

Strong (ADP: NA) will offer versatility right away on special teams and in the passing game (which is normally a path to fantasy relevance in New England). He was a big-play threat at South Dakota State with 10 career rushing touchdowns of 50-plus yards and also went 9 for 9 for 208 yards and six touchdowns as a passer.
