'Fantastic athlete' Willock and 'handful' Isak praised amid Newcastle United top four admission

Harry Redknapp says Alexander Isak could provide Newcastle United with a chance to finish in the top four, as he named the forward and Joe Willock in his team of the week.

Isak scored his first Premier League goal in two months with a bullet header into the far corner from Kieran Trippier's delivery in the first half against Wolves.

The Swede produced a man of the match performance at St James' Park and former West Ham, Portsmouth and Tottenham boss Redknapp has tipped Isak to play a decisive role in the race for the top four this term.

Redknapp told BetVictor: "I really like the look of Alexander Isak, he’s such a handful for defenders! He’s tall, quick and very good with the ball at his feet.

"I don’t see many weaknesses in his game and his header at the weekend was a great finish. Newcastle have had a difficult run recently, but if Isak can keep this form up, they still have a chance to finish in the top four.”

Willock was another top performer for the Magpies on Sunday. Although Hwang Hee-chan equalised just 60 seconds after being introduced from the bench, Willock played a key role in the build-up to Miguel Almiron's winner.

The pair combined effectively before Almiron fired his finish beyond the reach of Jose Sa 11 minutes from time. Newcastle leapfrogged Liverpool to climb into fifth place and revive their UEFA Champions League dream. And Redknapp was impressed by Willock's all-round performance.

“Joe Willock was brilliant against Wolves; he did a bit of everything. He got an assist, he put tackles in, he made some good runs with the ball, a top midfield performance! Joe is a fantastic athlete, and someone who I’ve always liked.”

Redknapp full Premier League TOTW: Gavin Bazunu (Southampton); Kyle Walker-Peters (Southampton), Marcos Senesi (Bournemouth), Michael Keane (Everton), Ben Chilwell (Chelsea), Philip Billing (Bournemouth), Leandro Trossard (Arsenal), Joe Willock (Newcastle United), Dango Ouattara (Bournemouth), Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur), Alexander Isak (Newcastle United).
