Fans were concerned after Jeremy Clarkson revealed accident prone Richard Hammond had fallen over as he filmed the latest series of The Grand Tour. Hammond, 53, who is known as ‘The Hamster’, has had a series of high profile mishaps while filming the motoring show - and its previous incarnation Top Gear.
The Grand Tour presenter took to social media to joke about his co-presenter, who comes from Solihull, falling over. Taking to Twitter, Jeremy wrote: “Also this morning, Hammond had a tumble. He really did. A**e over t**. But it was OK because he knew help was coming.”
In 2005 Hammond crashed a jet-powered dragster called Vampire at nearly 320mph (515kmph) while filming for Top Gear at the former RAF Elvington airbase near York. He recovered and returned to the show in early 2007. Eleven years later, in 2017, Hammond crashed a Rimac Concept One at a hill-climb in Switzerland, rolling the car several times and fracturing his knee.

Fans reacted to his latest incident. Mehmet said: “Knowing that somewhere somehow Hammond’s still crashing into things feels like everything’s fine.” Dave Lovatt joked: “Couldn’t have been a big tumble, he’s only 3ft tall.”
Concerned Tony James said: “My goodness, I hope Richard is okay. I sincerely mean that, you guys are an essential part of humanity, without which would completely collapse civilization into oblivion. Cheers.”
Clarkson also revealed that both himself and James May weren’t quite with it either. The presenter also tweeted: “Conversation from this morning. Me: ‘Have you seen who’s dead?’ James May: ‘no. Who?’ Me. “I can’t remember his name’. The old peoples’ home beckons.” (sic)
Another user responded: “Sadly, Gordon Lightfoot has passed away”, to which Jeremy replied: “That’s the fella. Sad. Some good tunes.”
