A Britain's Got Talent star has joked about what they would be doing if they weren't doing drag as a career - and it's not what you would expect.
Danny Curtius, more famously known as Danny Beard, reached the semi-finals of series 10 of the ITV talent show. The 30-year-old, originally from Halewood, entertained judges David Walliams, Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon with a song from The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Amanda described Danny’s performance as “absolutely brilliant”, with David adding that it “blew the roof off the place”.
Fast forward a few episodes later and Danny performed Holding Out for a Hero by Bonnie Tyler. This time round, Simon buzzed during the performance claiming Danny “missed a fantastic opportunity to continue where they were from the first audition”.

Despite not reaching the final, Danny has gone on to make a name for themselves with a following of 30,000 on Instagram and a more recent appearance on ITV2’s Celebrity Karaoke Club spin-off known as Karaoke Club: Drag Edition.
The self-proclaimed “sassy, shady, singing, cartoon clown” first started drag after they merged their love of contemporary performance and Club Kid style fashion. Danny told the ECHO : “I was studying in Manchester, which for the most part was exactly what you think - a bunch of absolute nutters creating hard-hitting pieces of theatre on topics like the war on drugs, self-discovery, and lactose intolerance. At the same time I started DJing a few nights a week on Canal Street and in my time off, I started dressing in Club Kid style drag for nights out, and soon the two merged and before I knew it I was hosting events and cabaret nights.”
Danny’s career took off after they won a national drag competition in 2014, gaining the opportunity to host a series of gigs up and down the country. Now, eight years later, fans of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK have quickly filled up online forums with suggestions that Danny might be appearing on the next series, which is believed to return to our screens before the year is out. The speculation comes after an absence of social media and in-person gigs during the time of the filming of the BBC series. This would mean Danny would be the third Liverpool queen to appear in the competition following in the footsteps of The Vivienne and Sister Sister. However, when asked if they would consider the competition in the future, Danny said it would “depend if they ever let on a bearded queen with far too much to say I suppose”.
A stint on the reality competition show would certainly help with Danny’s goal of “world domination”. If plans fall through, Danny said they would always consider “serving up chip butties with Coleen Rooney on Blackpool seafront” as a career plan.
Danny added: “Drag is an extension of who I am. I get away with murder and say the most outrageous things. I get to work all over the country, and travel to different countries too, meeting people from all walks of life and I really love that. I love that for an hour each night somewhere new everyone can forget their problems and just have a laugh at themselves. I have some fabulous plans to tour more of the globe, and some more bits of telly would be alright.”
