Fans thrilled that Rihanna is releasing first new music in six years

Rihanna will release her new single on Friday, October 28, delighting millions of patient fans who have waited six years for new music.

The Barbadian singer shared a 14-second clip of her new song, Lift Me Up, on social media. This is the lead single of the new Marvel film, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Rihanna also has a second song in the film, Born Again, which will play during the credits.

The upcoming tracks are the first songs she has released since her 2016 album Anti, which featured hits Desperado and Love on the Brain.

Fans had to wait four years for Anti, which followed 2012’s Unapologetic. In the 2010s, however, Rihanna released new music consistently.

Her debut album, Music of the Sun, was released in 2005, followed by A Girl Like Me in 2006. She then released Good Girl Gone Bad in 2007 and Rated R in 2009. Loud was released in 2010 followed by Talk that Talk.

Since her last album, she has been focusing on her Fenty Beauty range and Savage x Fenty lingerie line. The singer also welcomed a son with her boyfriend A$AP Rocky in May.

Rihanna first announced her return to music in September, when she revealed that she would be performing at the Super Bowl halftime show in February. This sent her fans into a frenzy.

After six long years, her loyal fanbase known as the Navy has only one more day to wait for new music.

Fans’ excitement was palpable in the thousands of tweets that have been shared following Rihanna’s announcement on Wednesday.
