Fans of Sex And The City star Cynthia Nixon believe the actor has shown her support of Palestine in the classiest way in the trailer for And Just Like That season three.
On Tuesday, the long-awaited trailer for the latest season of the beloved comedy-drama And Just Like That was released. While controversial character Che Diaz was nowhere to be seen, fans did notice the outfit Nixon wore reflected the colours and pattern of the Palestinian flag.
Although fans took it as a subtle nod of support, a rep for Nixon says it was just a coincidence.
“The shirt was provided to Cynthia at an And Just Like That marketing shoot by the series wardrobe department. Any similarities to the colours are a coincidence,” a rep told Newsweek.
However, Nixon has been very vocal in her support of Palestine and critical of the Israeli military actions in Gaza. She has participated in public protests demanding that former President Joe Biden call for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza.
Nixon has been receiving a mixed bag of responses for the fashion move, whether it was truly intentional or not.
In one corner of the internet, Nixon has been slammed for appearing to support Palestine amid Hamas’ alleged persecution of LGBTQIA+ people.
“Are we in a contest for the most clueless virtue signal of the year?” wrote one X (formerly Twitter) user.
