Fans slam Celebrity Big Brother as Jack P Shepherd is mocked despite past battle with eating disorder

Celebrity Big Brother viewers have hit out at the show after comments made about Jack P Shepherd’s appearance sparked serious backlash, especially given his past struggles with an eating disorder.

In a recent episode, Jack took part in a game of “two truths and a lie” alongside fellow housemates JoJo Siwa, Chris Hughes, and Chesney Hawkes. He revealed he’d once been in the final audition for Harry Potter and was in the running to play Billy Elliot before the role went to Jamie Bell. But what really shocked fans came later, during Big Brother’s Late and Live show, when former housemate Tiffany Pollard made crude remarks about Jack’s appearance and anatomy.

Her words left the audience visibly stunned, with even host Will Best stepping in to quickly shut it down, saying: “I’d just like to say, we cannot comment on Jack’s… right guys!” before swiftly moving on, according to Metro.co.uk.

Fans weren’t having it. On Reddit, many expressed outrage that such comments were allowed on air, particularly when Jack has previously spoken openly about his eating disorder. One user said: “BB are aware of this, so the fact BB is allowing housemates like Trish and Tiff to mock his size is absolutely appalling.”

Another brought up a past nomination moment from housemate Patsy Palmer, who once compared Jack’s appearance to the Joker, saying it was her reason for nominating him. “Basically saying he looks like a scary, unhinged clown,” one viewer wrote. “She should NEVER have been allowed to use that as a nomination excuse.”

Many fans highlighted how the situation would be handled very differently if the roles were reversed. One said: “If Jack was a woman it wouldn’t be okay, so I’m not sure how it’s being swept under the rug like this.”

Others shared their personal experiences with eating disorders, saying the kind of comments being made can be deeply damaging. “To someone with ED or body dysmorphia, that is absolutely shattering,” one user wrote.

Back in 2021, Jack hit back at a troll who mocked his weight by revealing: “I have an eating disorder. Thank you for being nice.”

This week, his fiancée Hanni Treweek appeared on Lorraine, sharing how proud she is of Jack. She said he’s doing great in the house, despite having no previous reality TV experience. “He’s got way more to show,” she added. “He’s in there to have a good time and have fun. He’s making us laugh.”
