Fans rush to support Eamonn Holmes after 'soul destroying' health update

Fans have flocked to the support of Eamonn Holmes after he shared a "soul destroying" update on his current health.

The GB News presenter has been struggling with the recent loss of his mother, and a continued battle with chronic pain, reports Manchester Evening News. In November this year, Eamonn described the "hellish" time he was having after suffering a fall during his recovery period from surgery to try and relieve his chronic pain.

The television star has been suffering for years with extreme discomfort, and only discovered why in 2021, after he spoke out about his health issues. Following an MRI scan, Eamonn found that his pain began when he "mysteriously" dislocated his pelvis.

Despite regular physio treatment, the star decided to take further action and underwent surgery. On the day before his planned operation, Eamonn told followers that the surgery came with a "20 percent risk of going wrong."

One week later, Eamonn appeared via video link on GB News where he discussed with co-hot Isabel Webster how he was awaiting news to see if the surgery had been a success. However, it was revealed that just a couple of weeks after the operation, Eamonn had suffered a fall that left him with a fractured shoulder, and he needed to undergo a second surgery for this.

It was then confirmed that doctors ordered the 63-year-old to go on bed rest for at least eight weeks. And late last month, Eamonn shared the tragic news that his mum, Josie, had died.

Eamonn confirmed the heartbreaking news on social media with a photo of his mum before her death, waving to him from her front door. He was then unable to travel back to Northern Ireland to attend the funeral, and was forced to watch via a stream at his home in Surrey, alongside his wife Ruth Langsford.

And yet, things are still to improve for the downtrodden presenter. He wrote on Twitter: "Worked hard at my physio this morning. Very tiring but I've now sat on my backside for 5 hours and feel bad about doing nothing..."

The dad-of-three added: "...lack of mobility & depending on others stops me doing really simple things. For peace of mind I feel another round of foot exercises coming on".

Fans flocked to the replies of his tweet to send their support and love to the star. One wrote: "I feel your pain I had 6 months of physio 2 hours a night 5 a week. I hated relying on folk..but the one thing was NO one will ever understand how awful Physio is and how exhausting."

Eamonn responded to this by saying: "Relying is soul destroying."

Another said: "Your excellent mentality will help the battle. Never keep the belfast lad down for long. Can’t wait to see you back on your feet and our screens in 2023."

And a third echoed: "Keep going we miss you on TV."

More comments read: "Stay strong Eammon, you are doing all you can despite everything. I am completely housebound and have disabilities that cannot improve but I feel positive for you. Happy & Healthy New Year."

Others said: "Aww,bless you, don't be too hard on yourself, being in pain is horrible."

And finally, one stated: "Go on Eamonn you go for it. Being mindful will help, you’ll get there."

Eamonn's update comes after the star was seen on crutches at Piers Morgan's annual festive party. He posed with the former GMB star for a snap and shared his delight at being able to get out and see his friends.

Eamonn said: "Big step forward for me tonight - literally. Got myself to a Christmas gathering hosted by Piers. Felt really good being out and mixing. Better than medicine. Happy Christmas everyone."
