Naughty Dog co-president Neil Druckmann acknowledged that the studio is working on another game but didn’t specify whether it’s The Last of Us Part 3.
During an interview with Kinda Funny, Neil Druckmann confirms that Naughty Dog’s next big-budget AAA game is in production – without clarifying what it might be.
“I know the fans really want The Last Of Us Part 3 – I hear about it all the time,” Druckmann said. “All I can say is that we’re already into our next project, and the decision has already been made. I can’t say what it is, but that is the process we went through.”
Druckmann goes on to state that this mysterious project is “the thing [Naughty Dog] is the most excited for,” – but again, he doesn’t drop even a hint. However, Druckmann did offer some insight into how it begins working on a game.
“At the end of every project, we purposefully explore several different projects,” Druckmann explains. “Some might be a sequel, and then a bunch of new ideas – and then we feel like, ‘where do our passions lie?’ because that’s the fire that has to sustain [us] for years to come.”
Naughty Dog’s next game (that we know of) is The Last of Us multiplayer game, which we’ll likely hear more about later in 2023. Of course, many people from the studio are also helping with HBO’s series, which just finished its record-breaking first season – Season 2 might not be far away, either.
