Fans react to Texans waiving former Steelers WR Diontae Johnson

Unsurprisingly, former Steelers WR Diontae Johnson finds himself on the outside looking in with another NFL organization, as the Houston Texans waived the receiver on Monday.

Johnson was traded from the Pittsburgh Steelers to the Carolina Panthers during the 2024 offseason, but the Panthers quickly cut ties with the receiver, trading him to the Baltimore Ravens this past October.

His time with the Ravens was also short-lived and drama-filled, with Baltimore choosing to waive the receiver rather than put up with any more distractions from Johnson.

The Texans quickly claimed Johnson off waivers, and it appeared the former Steelers WR would finally get his chance at redemption in 2024—until he apparently burned another bridge, this time with Houston.

It was reported that Johnson was upset over his lack of usage in the Texans Wild-Card playoff win over the Chargers, and his teammates attempted to calm him down.  However, Houston wouldn’t let his antics infect the locker room and subsequently cut their losses by waiving Johnson soon after.

Here are some of the best fan reactions on social media to the news of Johnson’s release:
