Bruce Springsteen has announced the release of his forthcoming album titled Letter to You, featuring 12 tracks with the singer’s long-time collaborators the E Street Band.
The Boss will be returning with his 20th studio album this autumn, however, fans can already listen to the titular track which was released on YouTube with an accompanying music video yesterday (10 September).
The emotional new single has been met with praise from Springsteen’s fans with many users sharing their appreciation for the surprise release in the comments.
One user said: “I needed this much more than I realised." Another wrote: “This is bringing a little tear to my eyes. I didn’t realise I needed Bruce and the band that much in my life right now.”
A third added: “The best way to start a day! The sound and the visuals! It’s like coming home…”
In a press release, Springsteen told fans: “We made the album in only five days and it turned out to be one of the greatest recording experiences I’ve ever had.”
The black and white video shows Springsteen and the E Street Band jamming out together, interspersed with shots of the “Born to Run” singer walking alone in the snow.
Since its release, the video has already racked up over 550,000 views.
Despite the pandemic, Springsteen has kept busy with his radio series Bruce Springsteen – From His Home to Yours. In a June broadcast, he dedicated two hours of music to George Floyd, whose murder in May earlier this year sparked worldwide Black Lives Matter protests against police brutality.
